Ottobre Romper 06-2007-04

I love rompers since they’re the only pants that my boys could fit in when they were babies. Both of my boys had big bellies when they were babies and they either couldn’t fit into regular pants or the waistband would always slip down (kind of like when I was 8 months pregnant and the waistband of my maternity pants would not stay put on my belly). I’m not sure if the same thing will happen to my daughter, but she’s about 3 months and getting very chubby. I have tried looking for pretty rompers for her, but the brands I like (Oilily, Cakewalk, Catimini, Baby Lulu, Pampolina, etc) are all so ridiculously expensive. I looked through my Ottobre magazines and found one that is close to what I’m looking for and made it.
DH told me that it’s hard to change her diapers with this on (What a guy! He was changing diapers!). I think it’s okay, but I don’t want to discourage any future diaper changing, I think I’ll change it so it opens all the way down. I have seen it done by someone else in the Ottobre group. I used velcro for the outside closure and sew-in snaps for the inside because I didn’t have any regular snaps. So far I prefer regular snaps. I wonder whether snap tapes are better and easier for this particular design.

I love Ottobre. They have the cutest designs and use the nicest fabrics. I started the subscription about 2 years ago, but never made anything for my boys. Now that we have a daughter, I think (or am hoping that) I’ll put the patterns to good use. I started with a bodysuit with a soft knit fabric from my stash. Here’s the review.
The top requires 5 snaps but I didn’t have enough. Since the top is still too big for the baby I’ll finish it when I buy more snaps.

Hi everyone!

I made a diaper bag based on Amy Karol’s Bend The Rules Sewing:… It has two deeper pockets on one side for a bottle and diapers and/or wipes. On the other side there is a regular sized pocket. I wanted to put in a zipper but didn’t have one with that would match the lining. When I started using it, I realized that the straps are not strong enough. I thought the interfacing I got was thick enough. With all the supplies/toys for 3 kids, it got very big and heavy quickly. What was I thinking?
