National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I can’t believe my eyes when I saw this:

marimekko_tote

A tote bag designed by Marimekko exclusively for the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. Well, Marimekko bags are easy to get (if you have extra cash to burn) but a Marimekko bag at a price tag of $10? It also comes with a enamel pink-ribbon-motif zipper pull. Yes, it has a zipper! Not only is this bag affordable, 100% of the net profit ($6.24) will be donated to Avon breast Cancer Crusade. How great is that? It’s almost too good to be true. I’m really surprised that this hasn’t been sold out yet. This will make a great diaper bag…and great for work too. I should just get two.

For those who can whip up tote bags like there is no tomorrow, I’m sure that you’re aware that a yard of Marimekko fabric would set you back by at least $40.00. Don’t even think about it…

Update on 1/16/10: The bag was sold out soon after I added this post but is now in stock again. However, I saw someone who was carrying this and it didn’t seem to look as good as I expected. I should’ve asked the person to let me take a closer look and asked how she liked the bag. I will probably buy it anyway just because it’s only $10 and part of it goes to charity.

Hi everyone!

I made a diaper bag based on Amy Karol’s Bend The Rules Sewing:… It has two deeper pockets on one side for a bottle and diapers and/or wipes. On the other side there is a regular sized pocket. I wanted to put in a zipper but didn’t have one with that would match the lining. When I started using it, I realized that the straps are not strong enough. I thought the interfacing I got was thick enough. With all the supplies/toys for 3 kids, it got very big and heavy quickly. What was I thinking?
